Gmail – set up push

Alarm emails as instant push notifications on your Android smartphone.

← Back to push notifications overview

Set up the Gmail app so CampSecure alarms appear instantly as push notifications.

Enable push notifications

  1. Open the Gmail app.
  2. Tap top left, then Settings.
  3. Select your email account.
  4. Tap Notifications.
  5. Choose All.

Check Android notifications

Open:

Settings → Apps → Gmail → Notifications

Make sure notifications are allowed.

Disable battery optimisation

Open:

Settings → Apps → Gmail → Battery

Choose Unrestricted or Don’t optimise.

This stops Android from delaying new email alerts.

Test: verify push works

Always test after setup—before you rely on the alarm.

  1. On the alarm phone, open CampSecure Settings → Email notifications.
  2. Tap “Send test email”.
  3. Check your receiving smartphone (with the Gmail app).

Success: A push notification appears within a few seconds—not only when you open the mail app.

Note: This is not a test alarm. No sensors are triggered. The test email checks the same path as a real alarm: CampSecure sends → email arrives → push on your phone.

Why email? CampSecure deliberately uses email—no extra servers, no cloud account required. A normal email is enough—and usually reaches your phone within seconds when push is set up correctly.
